Construction and Education in New Legislation

House Bill 110 would create a college-credit Apprenticeship Program for high school students. Sponsored by Representative Christina Hagan (R, Alliance), the bill would award college credits to eligible high school students, employed by businesses through certified apprenticeship programs. Deductions from the local school would pay for the program.
Senate Bill 3, sponsored by Senator Bill Beagle (R, Tipp City), would Establish an optional recognized pre-apprenticeship career pathway for career technical education students, according to the sponsor.
Senate Bill 8, sponsored by Senator Randy Gardner (R, Bowling Green), would provide funds for school technology or school safety and security for schools outside of the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission.
Senate Bill 15, sponsored by Senator Charleta Tavares (D, Columbus) would require colleges and universities to comply with Minority Business Enterprise set-aside requirements. The bill received one hearing before the Senate Government Oversight and Reform Committee.
