LPN Renewal Begins July 1, 2022
Published: Jun 30, 2022 by Monica FusterLicensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) will need to renew their Ohio license between July 1 and October 31, 2022.
Ohio nurses are required to renew their licenses biennially. For LPNs, the biennial renewal period is open during even-numbered years (2020, 2022, etc.).
The LPN Renewal Application includes questions concerning felonies, misdemeanors, professional licensure actions and investigations, and substance abuse.  Applicants answering “yes†to these questions will be required to submit a written statement explaining their “yes†response.
“Yes” responses are opened as complaints for the Ohio Board of Nursing (“Board”) to investigate. The Board is authorized to investigate evidence appearing to show that an applicant or licensee violated a rule regulating the practice of nursing. Any resulting sanction will depend on the specifics of the disclosure. Applicants must keep in mind that providing false or misleading information to the Board, including through a response to a renewal application question, is a violation of the Nurse Practice Act.
The Ohio Board of Nursing recommends you renew your license as early as possible to prevent your license from lapsing. If you miss the October 31st deadline, your license will lapse on November 1, 2022, and you will be unable to work as a nurse until the license is reinstated.
If you are renewing your license and are unsure how to respond to a question or need help disclosing a conviction or other conduct on your application, you should consider contacting one of the attorneys at Graff & McGovern, LPA.
