Pharmacy Technician Hearings Begin

Published: Nov 12, 2018 by Brandon Smith

As Levi Tkach explained last year, pharmacy technicians were required to be registered with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy by April 6, 2018.

As with any new professional license requirement, many individuals who had been working successfully as pharmacy technicians for years submitted applications that disclosed or failed to disclose potentially disqualifying past conduct. As the end of the year approaches, the Ohio Board of Pharmacy has begun issuing proposed denials to prospective licensees.

The administrative hearings on some applications have recently begun. Unusually, for the Ohio Board of Pharmacy, these hearings are being conducted by hearing officers, not by the Board. Notice of the right to an administrative hearing is not the same as an automatic denial. Instead, the hearing notice is the applicant’s opportunity to provide the Board with all of the relevant information.

If you are a pharmacy technician who has received a proposed denial or other notice of opportunity for hearing, you should consider contacting the Ohio pharmacy license defense attorneys at Graff & McGovern, LPA. Our attorneys have decades of experience representing licensed professionals, including representation of pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, pharmacies, and other licensees of the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
